Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in the Moses Lake School District Open Doors Youth ReEngagement Program. Information regarding eligibility, enrollment process, and frequently asked questions can be found below.

  • Students must meet specific eligibility requirements.

    • Students must be at least 16 by September 1st of the school year.
    • Students must not be older than 21 by September 1st of the school year.
    • Eligibility ends when you earn an HS diploma or Associate Degree or no longer meet the age requirements.
    • Students have already dropped out of school or are at risk of not graduating by age 21.
    • Must be a student that resides within the MLSD boundaries and/or has been approved to choice into the district.
  • I Complete an Open Doors Inquiry Form

    • The link to the Inquiry form can be found here: Inquiry Form
    • Be sure to fill out entirely with the most updated contact information

    II Attend Program Consultation

Our enrollment team will schedule a time to meet with you to:

    • Let you learn about the program and its operation and answer your questions.
    • Allow us to learn about your educational history and future goals.

    III Take Assessment Tests

After the initial consultation, a set of Math and ELA tests must be completed if the Open Doors Program is still a potential next step for the student.

    • The assessments are required as a part of all Open Doors Programs
    • The GED Pre-Ready Assessments are utilized as the assessments

IV Evaluation Review with Open Doors Enrollment Team

Students and/or Families will meet with the Enrollment Team to review all information gathered during enrollment. Program acceptance is based upon our professional judgment to find the right program to improve a student’s likelihood of success toward meeting graduation requirements.

    VI Engage in the Program

This is a huge step! We will work to provide opportunity and flexibility in our program to meet student needs, but student engagement is the driving factor to success!

  • What is the School Schedule?

Each student’s schedule will vary based on various factors, including, but not limited to, their specific graduation plan, the remaining eligibility time, and their overall situation. Generally, all students will have required weekly contact and minimum monthly hours that align with their overall plan, which was determined during the orientation process.

If a student meets eligibility requirements, is their enrollment guaranteed?

Eligibility determination is the first key step but does not guarantee enrollment.

If I am currently enrolled elsewhere, do I continue attending when I apply? ‘

Yes- students should always attend their current school until they are accepted and fully enrolled in the Open Doors Program.

Can I attend Open Doors and another Moses Lake School (i.e., MLHS, Digital Learning, and/or Vanguard)?

No- Open Door Policies do not allow dual enrollment in the Open Doors Program and other district schools.

    Can I attend CB Tech?

Yes- if accepted into CB Tech, Open Doors students can attend both programs because CB Tech is a regional skills center, not an MLSD school.

    Can I do Running Start?

Yes. Dependent upon Running Start Eligibility.
